KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- Winter has arrived, but bundle up and head over to the zoo. Knoxville Zoo remains open daily, and is currently hosting Penguin Discount Days, which includes half-price admission for all guests through Feb. 29, 2008.
Many guests are surprised to see that some animals at Knoxville Zoo are often more active and playful during cooler temperatures. Others are even more surprised that Knoxville Zoo is open 364 days a year for guests of all ages to enjoy. Daily zoo attendance is slower this time of year, which provides more walking and viewing areas for you and your family.
As temperatures begin to drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, some animals will be moved to their indoor enclosures. During the coldest days of the season, animals such as elephants, gorillas, penguins, reptiles, and bears still enjoy seeing visitors through indoor viewing areas.
Knoxville Zoo is located off exit 392 from Interstate 40 and is open every day except Christmas Day. The zoo is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and is committed to the highest standards in animal care and well-being, ethics, conservation, and education. Currently, the zoo is open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Admission and ticket sales stop one-hour before the zoo closes. Next-day admission is free after 3 p.m. For more information, please call 865.637.5331 ext. 300 or visit www.knoxville-zoo.org. |
