About the Zoo:
Knoxville Zoological Gardens is situated on 53 wooded acres just east of downtown Knoxville. Knoxville Zoo features exhibits that are fun for all ages, and is one of the most-visited educational resources in East Tennessee.
Each year, over 400,000 guests visit Knoxville Zoo.
Knoxville Zoo is located just off Interstate 40 at exit 392A at 3500 Knoxville Zoo Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37914. From the interstate, follow the signs to Knoxville Zoo.
Currently, the zoo is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily. The zoo is open every day except Christmas Day. Admission and ticket sales stop one-hour before the zoo closes. Next-day admission is free after 3:00 p.m. Seasonal hours are extended May through September.

Knoxville Zoo's Education Deparment offers a wide range of educational programming, including field trips, zoo camps, and overnight stays in the zoo. For more information, visit the zoo's Education page or call (865) 637-5331, ext. 350.
Knoxville Zoo has plenty of choices for refreshments during your visit, including a full meals available at Safari Grill, as well as specialty concessions located throughout the zoo. Strollers and wheelchairs are available for rent. Camel rides are available April through Labor Day. Unique animal-themed gifts are available at the Zoo Shop as well as at gift stands and carts located throughout the zoo.
Some concessions and gift stands will be open seasonally.
Knoxville Zoo features many naturalistic habits that allow visitors the chance to encounter the animals up close, including The Boyd Family Red Panda Village, Grasslands Africa!, Stokely African Elephant Preserve, Meerkat Lookout, Penguin Rock, Chimp Ridge, The Pridelands, River Otters, Cheetah Savannah, Gorilla Valley, The Clayton Family Kids Cove and Black Bear Falls. The zoo also features indoor exhibits, such as The Night Club, The Barn Loft, and Wee Play Zoo, and new indoor place to play.
