Departmental Mission:
The mission of the Conservation and Science department is to promote and facilitate research aimed at conservation, the scientific management of captive and wild populations and projects that seek to enhance an animal’s captive environment and daily life. The department is involved in ex situ (in captivity) and in situ (in nature) conservation management and research projects. Through externships, internships, and student research, we assist college students to develop skill necessary for a successful career in research, animal care professional, public relations, etc. The department is also responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Enrichment program and Green Team Conservation efforts.
