From beginning to end, Zoofari guests enjoyed a celebration of all things
Knoxville Zoo at the most unique gala event around.

"Night on the Nile" payed tribute to Ancient Egypt in honor of Knoxville Zoo's new North-African themed exhibit featuring African lions and Hamadryas baboons. During the time of Tutankhamun, these two species shared the deserts of Egypt. Now their story will educate and inspire guests from around the country at Knoxville Zoo. The evening's proceeds supported Knoxville Zoo's mission to celebrate the wonder of the natural world through education, conservation, exhibition and recreation. Zoofari funded the launch of an initiative in conservation of the majestic African lion with a new breeding program that will bring lion cubs back to Knoxville Zoo for the first time in over five years! With the addition of this facility and the proceeds from Zoofari 2011, Knoxville Zoo will continue to be a major contributor to the conservation of African lions.

Zoofari's "Night on the Nile" was one to remember! The zoo's grounds were transformed into an enchanting venue setting the stage for an event like no other. In true zoo style, animal ambassadors greeted guests to make sure we put the "safari" in "Zoofari"! Additional highlights included the exciting live auction with once-in-a-lifetime experiences, elegant dinner and signature cocktail. To top off this most festive affair, Dueling Pianos - a Zoofari first - kept everyone on their feet. The evening truly sparked like a starry Egyptian sky on the Nile River. The mood was contagious and Knoxville Zoo's generous supporters caught the spirit-raising more critical funding for zoo programs than any other Zoofari in the event's 24-year history. Thank you to every sponsor, table host, donor, auction winner, bidder, guest and volunteer for making our flagship fundraing event a resounding success.
