Welcome to another excellent year at Knoxville Zoo! The 2013 Fall Semester should be an exciting one. Here are important information as well as our new schedule. Zoo Membership and New Homeschoolers
Only zoo members will be allowed to participate in Homeschool classes. If you wish to become a member, contact Carrie Blair at
cblair@knoxville-zoo.org or at (865) 637-5331 x364.
If you are not a zoo member, you may have a one-class trial period. Full admission will be charged for entrance into the zoo plus the class fee (K-2 = $4.00 per child / older grades = $6.00 per child).
Should you decide to continue the classes, you can use your admission price toward your membership. You can also use the class fee toward an OWL. What are OWLs? Please see below.
Non-members must also pre-register through the zoo's education department by filling out the Online Reservation Form.

OWLs and Pricing
There are TWO ways to attend the Fall 2013 Homeschool Tuesday classes. You may pay for classes individually, OR you may purchase a Homeschool OWL (Outstanding Wildlife Lessons).
Individual Class Pricing

Homeschool OWL
The second way of paying for classes is by purchasing classes in packages of 5. These "packages" are called OWLs. Each OWL has 5 uses. Each use can be used for one child to attend one class. In other words, if you purchase one OWL, one child can attend 5 classes or 5 children can attend one class each.
OWLs are purchased from your teacher during check-in at the Log Cabin. These can first be purchased on January 22, the first day of classes.
OWLs are non-refundable, but may be used for any homeschool class during the fall semester unless otherwise specified. OWLs are NOT transferrable from one price level to another, but they can transfer to another child within the same price level.
The OWLs for the Fall semester will expire on the last day of the Fall semester.
OWL Prices
K - 2nd grade
$15 per OWL (vs. $20.00 for 5 individual classes)
Get 1 class for free by purchasing 2 OWLs (10 classes) for $27
Get 2 classes for free by purchasing all 3 OWLs (all 15 classes) for $39
OWLs must be purchased together to receive the discount.
3rd - 8th grade
$25 per OWL (vs. $30.00 for 5 individual classes)
Get 1 class for free by purchasing 2 OWLs (10 classes ) for $45
Get 2 classes for free by purchasing 3 OWLs (all 15 classes) for $65
OWLs must be purchased together to receive the discount.
Class Times
All classes meet at the Log Cabin. Classes are held in the Foundation beneath the Log Cabin.
Tuesday Classes
Grades K-2
Meet at 10:00 a.m.
All programs are 45 minutes in length unless otherwise specified, but may run over
Grades 3-5
Meet at 12:00 p.m.
All programs are 90 minutes in length unless otherwise specified, but may run over
Grades 6-8
Meet at 2:00 p.m.
All programs are 90 minutes in length, but may run over
Thursday Class
K-2
Meet at 2:00 p.m.
All programs are approximately 45 minutes in length unless otherwise specified, but may run over.
