"New at the Zoo" wins second Telly Award!

"New at the Zoo" won its second Telly Award! 2003's "New at the Zoo" garnered a Finalist Award in the area of Children's Programming for the show about Knoxville Zoo's Emergency Animal Escape Drill. It starred Nikki Edwards, from Knoxville Zoo's Bird Show, as an escaped tiger, and a number of zoo staff involved in the recapture. Drills like this are done throughout the year to prepare zoo staff for all types of emergencies.

"New at the Zoo" garnered a Winner Award in 1999 for one of its shows done while in Africa. Telly Awards are given to non-network television programming and honor outstanding television commercials, video productions and films. To learn more about Telly Awards, please visit
