Knoxville Zoo Pavilion

Knoxville Zoo's Pavilion is for use by non-profit groups and individuals. The Zoo offers a unique setting to promote your organization or your talent to visitors from Tennessee and around the world.

The pavilion is a 25 x 15 foot covered area with lights and electricity. It is located in the East Tennessee Plaza where visitors enter and exit the park.

Application for use of the Pavilion require completion of a Pavilion Reservation Form (pdf). Submit the form by mail or fax to the Special Events Department at Knoxville Zoo no later than 14 days before your requested date.


Pavilion Use Information

Arriving at the Zoo

  • Groups/organizations/individuals are allowed to use the pavilion with a confirmed, approved reservation through the Knoxville Zoo Special Events Department.
  • You must bring your signed confirmation letter with you on your assigned date and report to the Zoo Rangers Station at the front entrance. Zoo Rangers will direct you to the pavilion.
  • Not more than a total of 4 people will be allowed free admittance as staff for your organization. Your number of staff needed must be approved before the confirmation letter is signed and a date is assigned.
  • You will be able to temporarily park near the entrance for unloading and loading your needed equipment. You must park your vehicle in the main zoo parking lot after unloading. You will not be charged for parking if you provide your name to the parking attendant at time of arrival. You must provide a list of approved names to Special Events Manager no later than 5 days before your assigned date. If no names were submitted for parking passes, you must pay to park.
  • All of your staff must sign in and out at the Rangers Station.
  • We are not able to supply any assistance for transportation of you or your equipment to the pavilion. It is only a short walk from the area of entrance and you may bring a small cart or dolly to transport your items for set up. A cart or dolly will not be available for your use.
  • You must wear shoes and shirts while in the zoo. You will be expected to provide name tags for everyone in your group. If available, please wear your organization uniform in addition to your nametag to identify staff as part of your activities.
  • Restrooms and food & drink facilities are available for your convenience throughout the zoo.

Using the Pavilion

  • Hours for Pavilion use are 10:00am to 3pm, 7 days a week, depending on availability.
  • Knoxville Zoo will provide you with a table and chairs if requested.
  • Knoxville Zoo will provide you with electric needs as available in the pavilion.
  • All items must be secured to avoid littering the park. It is your responsibility to secure items to avoid the wind blowing papers or other items around the area.
  • You are required to clean the Pavilion area before you leave the zoo. The pavilion will be checked by a Zoo staff member before you check out.
  • You may post a banner on the pavilion by using rope. No staples, nails, screws, glue, etc can be used on the pavilion. A freestanding sign is best used in this area.
  • You may offer information about your group and group projects.
  • All activity must be suitable for our guests at Knoxville Zoo. We are a family friendly facility and all activities must be suitable for all ages and must be in good taste as determined by the Special Events Manager and Zoo Directors. It is at the discretion of Knoxville Zoo Rangers, Special Events Manager and Zoo Directors to ask you or your group to leave if information is determined unsuitable for our visitors in the park.
  • The Zoo pavilion will NOT be available for commercial, religious, or political purposes.
  • Your group is NOT allowed to bring live animals into the park due to quarantine issues.
  • Any visual or audio presentations or items for distribution must be approved by Knoxville Zoo Special Events Department and Zoo Directors before your application is approved. This information must be available to the Special Events Manager no later than 14 days before you plan to use the pavilion.
  • Climbing or other dangerous activities are not allowed in the zoo.
  • Profanity is not allowed in the zoo.
  • A no smoking policy is strongly encouraged at the pavilion area.
  • Selling, auctioning, raffling, or tip jars are not allowed.
